Page addresses and search visibility

Page addresses in the preview

While the site is in preview it lives on a private Wigoh address. Nothing about that address is visible to search engines or to your visitors.

After you go live

When you deploy, the site is served from its production address and, if you connected a domain, from your domain. Pages built from your old site keep their titles and content, which is what search engines index.

Keeping the same paths

Your old site's page paths (for example /about-us) are preserved where Wigoh can read them, so links from other sites and search results continue to find the right page after you switch your domain. Check important pages in the preview before you point the domain, and use the editor to rename a page's address if you need to.

What Wigoh does not do for you

  • It does not submit your site to search engines.
  • It does not set up redirects on your old platform. If you are moving off a platform that let you customise paths, compare the two sites' page lists before you change DNS.

See the marketing site's SEO continuity guide for a planning checklist.
