Why consider Shopify to WordPress?
WordPress can give you more control over content, hosting, page design, and the relationship between your store and the rest of your website. It can also bring your marketing pages and commerce experience into one flexible system.
A store migration needs more planning than a brochure-site move. Wigoh can analyze your Shopify site and help recreate the public storefront experience, while you decide how commerce should work in WordPress—often with WooCommerce or another supported service.
What to plan for
The following can usually be brought into the new site or recreated during the project:
- Storefront pages, navigation, and brand styling
- Product information and publicly visible product images
- Marketing pages, blog content, and calls to action
- Page titles, descriptions, and important URL information
- Product grids and other dynamic content using WordPress equivalents
Orders, customer accounts, payment history, private app data, and checkout settings are not the same as public website content. Export and migration of those records should be planned separately with your commerce and payment providers.
The recommended path
- Share your Shopify URL. Wigoh analyzes the storefront and identifies the important pages and content.
- Choose your WordPress commerce approach. Decide which products, checkout, payments, shipping, and tax features you need.
- Review the WordPress preview. Compare the brand, product presentation, navigation, and mobile experience.
- Test before launch. Place test orders, check transactional emails, and verify redirects before switching domains.
Keep your store safe during the move
Do not shut down Shopify while the WordPress store is being prepared. Keep a current product export and record your important product and collection URLs. Plan a short cutover window so inventory and orders are not split between two systems.
For search visibility, use the SEO continuity guide and pay special attention to product, collection, blog, and policy-page URLs.
